Presa Canario
History
The breed is a breed originating in the Canary Islands , Tenerife, including Gran Canaria. It is the result of a cross between the Mastiff dogs keep the Canary Islands ( Spanish settlers brought the now defunct) . In the 16th and 17th Century has been widely used for the protection and herding cattle , to be used later in the TV lupe dog until 1940-1960 , when they were banned.
Description
This is a large dog , strong, sturdy, strong , impressive . It has a solid , compact , long rather than up . The head is strong, solid and a place, which covered a wide leather which gives it a wrinkled appearance . The muzzle is short, broad and powerful with a black nose . The eyes are medium sized , oval and dark shape , usually brown . The ears are medium to large in size or slightly to the left pink sheet form ( can be cut ) . The frame is strong and the muscles and the skin is thick and free ( particularly on the head) . The chest is broad and the tail is of medium length, is at the forefront , the sword research. The feet are round in shape ( as in cats ) . The coat is short, straight and hard. It may be brown, gray, tiger. Can I white spots on the neck and chest and is usually a black mask.
This dog has a personality strong and aggressive character , of course he calms , careful and balanced . He is affectionate and gentle ruler and his family, but vigilant and wary of strangers . It is a dominant behavior towards other dogs dog, and usually with a lower status to better understand the opposite sex dogs .
Maintenance coat is easy to maintain and sometimes brushing with a rubber glove is enough.
Life is a dog with a moderate level of activity and weather. It will feel better in a well fenced yard, but in an apartment if offered daily requirement of exercise. Requires a leash , training and lots of socialization with humans and other animals in the house.
Training a dog is hard to train. A very dominant and need a little more socialization and training based on obedience and submission.
Utility is used extensively for guarding houses , properties and livestock .
